Clackamas Elementary Park
Honoring Rotary International’s 100th anniversary, Clackamas Rotarians spearheaded a project that turned a brown, barren eyesore into a lush green playground adjoined by raised garden beds and a large, sheltered picnic area at Clackamas Elementary School.
The $30,000, five-year project started in 1999. It included fifteen work parties and, with help from Clackamas High School’s Key Club, involved more than 1,000 hours of volunteer labor.
The result was a boon for the entire community as it created a safe place for children and a central location for area residents to gather for neighborhood activities.
